Heat is on as the barra start to bite

Pilbara News - - Sport - Peter de Kruijff

The blow may have dropped off the past two weeks for anglers, but the heat has started to settle in with temperatures around 40C this weekend.

The barra have started biting in places such as Airport Creek and Cossack, but they are still elusive. Live bait sounds like it has been doing the trick. It was a bit windier this weekend than last, but plenty of folks still tried their luck out on the water.

New to town, Maddie Boord from Cairns went fishing with her dad off Dampier at the weekend and reeled in the biggest Spanish mackerel she had ever caught, measuring 140cm and weighed 18kg.

That will make a lot of fish curry.
