Segment births book plan

■ When radio broadcasters Robbie Klitzing and Adam McGuire bit into their first toasted sandwich live on RedFM’s Big Breakfast, they didn’t realise it would be the start of something magical.

On that day, Toasted Sandwich Tuesday was born, and still remains one of show’s much-loved segments.

Klitzing said every week since, they had tried a new creation and were working through recipes sent in by listeners each week.

“It’s amazing how quickly the people of regional WA took to TST,” he said.

“We tried different fillings, from your traditional ham, cheese and tomato, to nachos corn chips, salsa and sour cream.

“You definitely can’t beat the good old chicken parma in a sandwich.”

Several loaves of bread and slices of cheese later, the boys have decided to take favourite meal to the next level with their very own Toasted Sandwich Tuesday cookbook.

McGuire said they were calling on listeners to crowdfund the project and make their dream a reality.

“We want the people of WA to feel part of the journey too,” he said.

“We’ve come up with a campaign which not only allows the listeners to be involved, but businesses to buy a page with an advertising package on our station included in the price.”

With the campaign now live, McGuire and Klitzing aim to raise funds to recreate each submission and cover the printing, publishing and promotion of the book by Christmas.
