Safety roadshow back
The Department of Mines and Petroleum’s mine safety roadshow has returned to the Pilbara.
The roadshow is in Karratha today and will spend tomorrow and Friday in Newman.
Mines and Petroleum Minister Bill Mar mion said personal stories from families affected by workplace accidents would feature in this year’s event.
“The roadshows are an opportunity to meet personally with mines inspectors and network with like-minded people interested in better safety outcomes for Western Australia’s mining operations,” he said.
“This year’s event includes a special screening of the second instalment in the Know Your Hazards video series, including heartfelt messages from people affected by mine site incidents.
“These videos help workers better understand some of the risks they face and will put them in a much better position to recognise and control these hazards.”
The roadshow reflects findings of the Serious Injury Review, which identified hazards including falling while working from height and being hit by falling objects.
