Heat on Scorchers
The Scorchers are in danger of losing the chance to defend their Fortescue Cricket Association Twenty20 crown after round 4 in Paraburdoo.
In the last game Towns won the toss and elected to bat against the reigning premiers.
Jason Poolman continued his form from the morning and cruised to 63 before Kim Gunnell tempted him into a false shot.
From there, there wasn’t much to talk about as Greg Cross (17) was the only other batsman to make it to double figures as Towns reached 6-116.
In reply, Scorchers mixed things up a little as they looked to secure top spot, but they lost a steady procession of wickets, with only Chris Hamilton (19), Simon Deegan (12) and Brad Malingre (11no) reaching double figures as Scorchers were rolled for 79 in 14 overs, seriously damaging their chances of qualifying for the finals.
In the other matches Paraburdoo Saints beat Towns, Crushers lost to Scorchers before a second game in which the result was reversed, and Saints and Towns smashed a depleted Rebels squad.
