Man of hockey honoured by gift
■ Summer social hockey is back on Wednesday nights at the Bulgarra tennis courts and there was plenty of action out on the court last week.
Held from 6.30pm, the night is open for teenagers and adults and sees both men and women out on the same pitch playing mixed friendlies.
Last Wednesday’s game was a special one, with pizza and drinks held at the end of the session.
The Nickol Bay Hockey Association’s front man Steve Cook was also surprised with a gift from the rest of the club.
Cook was handed a limited edition “black magic” hockey stick for his years of tireless service to the club.
Several of the clubs stalwarts got up to give a few words on Cook’s contribution to the club.
The social nights run every Wednesday until November 25.
