Punters tap into culture

Hundreds of Pilbara residents had their fill of sausage and beer at events across the region at the weekend for Oktoberfest celebrations.

The intimate Wickham OB’s welcomed residents from Roebourne, Point Samson and Wickham on Friday night and was decked out with little blue and white flags hanging from the rafters.

The dress code was strictly lederhosen and everyone had dressed the part.

Some of the revellers were in such a festive mood they also made it to the Oktoberfest in Cattrall Park in Peg’s Creek the following day.

It was the first time Blanche Bar had held the event in the park.

The beer flowed and it wasn’t long before bar staff were inundated with hundreds of punters who had come out in droves to enjoy the sunshine and waltzing.

A reticulation system kept attendees cool and the sound of tubas was replaced with a band which played some more contemporary music to get the crowd up and dancing.

Prizes were given out for the best dressed and best dressed couples while a sausage eating competition hit the spot for the truly devoted bratwurst eaters.
