Dry start to wet season: BOM
The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted the western Pilbara will experience below-average rainfall and above-average temperatures between November and January this year.
The North West is expected to have a drier than usual start to the wet season, especially Onslow over the month of November.
Average rainfall across the threemonth period is unlikely to exceed 10mm.
November is likely to bring hotter than average temperatures across the Pilbara while December is forecast to be cooler, so residents may be in for an unusually cool Christmas.
The bureau’s outlook is because of the combination of a strong El Niño in the Pacific Ocean, a decaying positive Indian Ocean Dipole, and warm temperatures in the Indian Ocean.
BOM predicts below-average rainfall.
