Managers needed for 2016 Census
Census night is the time when Australians must metaphorically stand up, but literally be counted, and to do this the Australian Bureau of Statistics is calling for the best of the best to lead the next five-yearly headcount in 2016.
Before the big recruitment drive in May for on-the-ground field officers, the ABS is looking for district managers in four WA regions, including the Pilbara.
The 2016 Census program head Duncan Young said the ABS couldn’t collect the data from 24 million Australians without a large temporary workforce, an expected 250 supervisors and up to 2400 field staff in WA, which started with the managers.
“The ABS is looking for people to fill these critical roles now,” he said.
“If you’re a good communicator, know your community well, and have strong project and people management skills, I encourage you to apply to be part of one of the most exciting projects in Australia.”
Next year 65 per cent of Australian homes are predicted to fill out their census online for the first time.
The 2016 Census will be Australia’s first digital census, with 65 per cent of Australian households expected to complete the survey online.
Mr Young said 2016 field staff would have to be tech-savvy and know how to use computers, smartphones and tablets.
Census night will be on August 9, 2016.
