■ Paraburdoo is no stranger to wild weather, and isolated formations of coloured powder clouds drew a decent crowd of whiteshirted residents to the Peter Sutherland Oval last month.

The coloured clouds were no accident, but part of the second annual Para Colour Fun Run organised by the Men’s Shed.

More than $2500 was raised for beyondblue through the event, which promoted living a healthy and active lifestyle.

There was a 50 per cent increase in participants this year, from 211 to 318 people from Paraburdoo and Tom Price, who ran in the 1km and 3km events, while 150 people joined in the colour smash, which had even more multi-pigment clouds billowing from the oval. There was no shortage of powder, with 800 bags of the stuff used on the night.

Across four age categories, 54 prizes were handed out.

It was a big community effort to make the night possible, with eight community groups getting on board and 32 business sponsors and supporters, as well as 22 volunteers and 10 committee helping out on the night.
