■ A new GP clinic aims to fill the gap in the health care services market in Wickham and Point Samson, and the even better news is that this doctor can come to you.

Local GP Dr Martin Kumar has started running a mobile GP clinic from his car in the Wickham and Point Samson areas.

Wickham Mobile GP opened for business on Monday and is delivered by healthcare provider 360 Health + Community.

It will operate during business hours and bring the full range of GP services to patients.

The clinic is a temporary venture until Dr Kumar sets up his permanent practice, which is undergoing construction.

Healthcare provider 360’s practice and engagement executive manager Collean Fahy said there was a lot of demand for the clinic’s services, given there was only one other GP practice for both towns.

“They’re very excited,” she said of the locals. “It’s about access for patients, and at the moment there just isn’t enough.”

Ms Fahy said there was a “mixed bag” of health issues in the area that the GP clinic would help address, including chronic disease, mental health, and FIFO workers’ accessibility to healthcare.

Patients can contact the Wickham Mobile GP on 0427 489 327 or book an appointment online at
