■ The City of Karratha has had a strong response to their call for local companies to register with their online business directory.

VendorPanel Marketplace has been rolled out to help facilitate business between small companies and councils across Australia. The City of Karratha opened registrations for their directory last month, and has reported that more than half of the 400 invited businesses have joined since then.

City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said the council was pleased with the response, but there was still some way to go.

“We are encouraging more to sign up so there is a full spectrum of local suppliers available,” he said. “The VendorPanel system will improve business opportunities for local traders and the City’s quotation process for council projects.”
