Beautiful photos show off the sea

The best of the Ningaloo Coast has been captured in a wide-ranging amateur photography competition run by the Exmouth Visitor Centre.

The competition encouraged photographers to submit their shots from the local area in categories including scenic, wildlife, unique experiences, kids and an overall winner.

Popular residents such as manta rays, turtles, whale sharks and humpback whales featured prominently among a large contingent of underwater shots.

There were plenty of kangaroos and hilltop views, particularly from the Vlamingh Head lighthouse, submitted as well.

Pippa Lucas won the kids category with a picture of the big prawn lit up under a starry night sky.

She was followed by Sarah Hummerston’s sunset tumbleweed and Macey Turner’s panorama from the Vlamingh Head lighthouse lookout.

A fully airborne humpback whale photographed near Coral Bay was more than enough for Ed Cardwell to take out the wildlife section.

A full list of winners and 30 finalists has been posted on the Exmouth Visitor Centre’s Facebook page.
