Intrepid reporter heads east
Some of you might know me as the hirsute journalist with a camera hanging around a neck obscured by beard, who is always quick to tell you that I went to Karratha Primary School in the 1990s, so I’m not a complete newbie.
Well, it is with a heavy heart and beard I inform you that I have left Karratha to continue my reporting career on the border of New South Wales and Victoria.
There are a few folks I would like to thank who made my time here what it was and point out a few of the best things about the place: ■ Dampier Sharks are the best footy club and you mob better win double flags next year. ■ Dampier Mermaid is my favourite pub, so everyone go support your local, and if you don’t live in Dampier, drive up the road and support the Mermaid. ■ Roebourne Cafe pies are awesome, although BT’s have made a late charge with their new range. ■ Got Candy Mechanical in the Karratha LIA is the place to go for a no-nonsense honest service from some good blokes. ■ All my best to the women’s footy teams in the Pilbara, they’re pioneering the code in the region. ■ Good on ya to the passionate people pushing arts and creativity in the region, you all know who you are. ■ Apologies to the knitting circle; I’m still going with the beanie, I just got a bit preoccupied and a bit embarrassed by my slow progress to come back down after my last holiday, but now everyone knows about it, so how funny is that? ■ Thanks to the Pilbara News team and the broader West Australian Regionals team, especially the sub-editors who make me look good.
Have a good one Pilbara, see you around.
