Warriors claim summer competition

Pilbara News - - Pilbara Sport - Rob Skinner

Warriors have capped off an outstanding season by adding the summer competition premiership to their winter competition success.

Unfortunately, the Wreckers were unable to field a full team but the players were valiant in their efforts.

While the scoreboard showed the Warriors were comfortable victors at 8-4, it was 4-4 earlier and without the three forfeits the scoreline would have been 5-4 to Warriors and the match would have been far from decisive.

The Warriors were hot favourites, finishing on top of the ladder having been the outstanding team all year.

Congratulations go to the Warriors as a team, and also plaudits to Warriors player Marcus Tutt for his recent win in the elite singles over Rob Hinckfuss, 10-9.

Further accolades were in order for Hinckfuss, who partnered Gill Nolan in their doubles title victory over Marcus Tutt and Scott Hutchinson.

The summer competition’s highest percentage player was the Warriors’ Richie Heslewood, who won 88 per cent of the games he played.
