Oversight in airport revamp

Pilbara News - - Opinion -

We recently flew back into Karratha airport, but had two hours to wait for our pick-up bus back to Pannawonica.

Once we had collected our luggage, we wanted to have a coffee. This is where the problems arose. The only way to access the cafeteria area is to re-check through customs, X-ray and drug screening.

Well, as we all know, when you fly you place all sharps in your case to avoid unnecessary issues, so with our suitcases and hand luggage we had to re-enter the departure lounge for food and drink.

So why didn’t the City or designers have pre-check in access to the cafeteria for these things as I am sure there are many family members who get caught seeing off their guests only to have contents confiscated because they must enter the restricted area to relax.

This seems to me to be a very big and poor oversight in the revamp of the airport.
