Club gives kindness for Christmas
■ Baynton West Primary School pre-primary students are making it their Christmas mission to show that a little kindness goes a long way.
Last Thursday morning the children held an “acts of kindness” day and hosted local seniors for morning tea at the school.
They gave handmade Christmas placemats as gifts and presented plenty of live entertainment for their amusement.
Pre-primary teacher Jessica Stevens said it was the latest in a series of activities her students had done as part of the class’ “kindness club” which started this year.
“I’m trying to teach them Christmas is about more than just receiving, it’s about giving as well,” she said.
The club includes taking a daily kindness pledge and write positive messages on school footpaths.
Ms Stevens said the children really enjoyed their acts of kindness because they could see the good they were doing.
“We’ve talked about how kindness spreads, how one act of kindness makes more,” she said.
“If you make someone’s day, then it spreads and they’ll make someone else’s day.”
