Santa parks sleigh at Onslow’s oval
■ A clear and balmy night set the scene for Onslow’s Christmas festivities last weekend as hundreds turned out for a meal and entertainment.
The evening began quietly, but as the sun set families descended upon Town Oval to enjoy the festivities.
Santa dropped in to say hello, handing out presents to all the children in attendance.
Shire of Onslow president Kerry White addressed the crowd before Libby Hammer Duo took to the stage playing Christmasthemed songs.
Bouncy castles and arts and craft stalls were busy all evening.
Earlier in the day, five floats did a loop from the oval down the main street for the Onslow float parade.
Only a handful of residents came out onto the streets to watch, but those who did were showered with lollies.
The following day, an Onslow Primary School fete was well attended, with V Swans Ashburton putting on a barbecue breakfast and locals putting their wares on display for Christmas gifts.
