Committee agrees to changes to rules, game dates
Netball in Karratha will undergo sweeping changes next year as the league continues to expand.
The Karratha Netball Association committee held its endof-year meeting recently and agreed on a raft of changes to rules, divisions and playing dates.
New official netball rules will be introduced from January 1 and the local competition will also adopt bylaws similar to those used by the Wanneroo Netball Association.
Junior divisions with more than eight teams will compete in an 18-week season, three weeks more than smaller divisions.
KNA president Tracy Kitching said the committee was seeking expressions of interest from coaches of all levels for the three Karratha Association Development squads.
“Junior athletes wishing to trial for Karratha Association Development Squad will only be eligible if they play in their age division in their club team,” she said.
“Try-outs are expected to be in February.”
She said this would be a good opportunity to develop coaching skills.
The senior season will begin on March 14, with three grading rounds followed by round 1 on May 2.
Junior grand finals will be played on September 16 and senior grand finals the next day.
