Public tip-offs lead to cannabis seizures
Roebourne police have seized two hauls of cannabis in Wickham in recent weeks, thanks to information from the public.
On Monday, December 7, police searched a house after residents contacted them about a suspected dealer.
Officers found 74g of cannabis, several thousand dollars in cash and other items related to the supply of cannabis. A man was charged with possession with intent to sell and supply and other charges related to the cash.
The second, unrelated seizure came after a public tip about a juvenile suspected of being involved in the supply of cannabis.
On Sunday, December 13, officers conducted a stop and search and allegedly found 17g of cannabis split into 20 bags.
The juvenile was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
The man and the juvenile are on bail waiting to appear in court.
Roebourne police acting officer in charge Glen Beros said the force relied on information from the public.
“You can report via Crime Stoppers, a call to the station on 9182 1133 or to police officers on the street,” he said.
