Rio Tinto cleans up af­ter train de­rails

Rio Tinto has cleaned up af­ter one of its iron ore trains came off the tracks near Tom Price last week.

A spokesman con­firmed the in­ci­dent in­volv­ing a train car­ry­ing empty iron ore carts de­railed last Tues­day af­ter­noon.

“A num­ber of empty ore cars de­railed from the rail line in the in­ci­dent,” he said.

“Rio Tinto con­firms it has re­opened the rail line.”

The spokesman said the rail line had re­turned to nor­mal oper­a­tions be­tween the mines and ports.

No one was in­jured in the in­ci­dent.
