Party caps off successful year
The Wirrpanda Foundation held its Christmas party in Wickham on Thursday, December 10, celebrating the end of a year of successful engagement programs.
Mentors David Wirrpanda, Troy Cook, Dale Kickett and Ashlea Walley flew up from Perth to join 40 students, families and staff from the foundation’s Wirra Club, a homework assistance and sports program in Wickham.
There was face painting, an inflatable water slide and afternoon tea before Santa gave each Wirra Club participant a present as a reward for their hard work.
Foundation mentor Troy Cook said 2015 had been a successful year, with existing programs going from strength to strength and the beginning of the Wirra Schools initiative, part of the Federal Government’s Remote School Attendance Strategy, which has brought them to Roebourne and Onslow.
“We’ve got a fair bit of momentum at the moment with our programs and we hope to continue that on and promote healthy and active lifestyles next year,” he said.
