Friends set to live the travel dream after competition win
Karratha’s Tambrey Tavern made two local ladies’ Christmases last year when they announced them the winners of the much-anticipated Fly Away From The Brey travel competition.
Tambrey regular Casey Parkes’ ticket was drawn from a pool of more than 4000 in the competition to win a $5000 travel voucher to go anywhere around the world. Her friend Savannah Mullen-Bryant shared in the ticket.
Ms Parkes said she was “stoked” to get the news they had won on Christmas Day and it had provided a huge boost to her and her friend’s pre-existing travel plans.
“We were planning to go to Bali, but then we won and now we’re going to Thailand and for longer,” she said.
The girls are planning to spend a month and a half living the tropical paradise dream by going scuba diving, seeing waterfalls and even going skydiving.
Tambrey general manager Danny Blazeski said the competition enabled the Tambrey to promote its adjoining retail superstore in a creative way and had a great response.
“It was a great local initiative in the lead-up to Christmas — a bit of initiative from our team,” he said.
“We had over 4000 entrants and 15,000 subscribers to our mailing list. This is the first time we’ve done something like this. We’ll do it again next year for sure.”
