Community funds boosted by 50pc
Community groups in the Pilbara are being encouraged to apply for grants through the State Government’s regional grants scheme and community chest fund.
More than $2 million in funding is available this year, representing a 50 per cent boost from last year.
Pilbara Development Commission acting chief executive Terry Hill said organisations with projects that attracted investment, created jobs and improved quality of life should apply.
“Both the scheme and fund were very successful for the region last year, delivering a diverse range of events, projects and community-led initiatives that make the Pilbara a great place to live,” he said.
There is $1.67 million available through the Pilbara Regional Grants Scheme, which invites applications for funding between $50,001 and $300,000.
The Pilbara Community Chest Fund offers a total funding pool of $550,000 over two rounds in 2016 for applications up to $50,000.
Applications for both close on March 17.
Round two of the community chest fund is scheduled to open on August 1.
