Ex­plor­ing app on right track

The Trails WA mo­bile app is the lat­est in a range of on­line and mo­bile re­sources be­ing rolled out by the State Govern­ment to as­sist peo­ple in plan­ning their camp­ing and recre­ation ex­pe­ri­ences in na­tional parks and re­serves.

Depart­ment of Parks and Wildlife vis­i­tor ser­vices as­sis­tant di­rec­tor Rod An­n­ear said the app would help peo­ple find out more about walk­ing, cy­cling, moun­tain bik­ing, four-wheel-driv­ing, horse rid­ing, snorkelling and pad­dling trails across the State.

“We are see­ing more de­mand from tourists and lo­cals to ex­plore our won­der­ful nat­u­ral ar­eas, and it is im­por­tant that we equip peo­ple with use­ful in­for­ma­tion in a mod­ern, ac­ces­si­ble way,” he said.

“Trails can be fil­tered and sorted by lo­ca­tion, trail ex­pe­ri­ence, trail type, time and level of dif­fi­culty, mean­ing there is some­thing for ev­ery­one and peo­ple can dis­cover all the amaz­ing trails we have on of­fer here in WA.

Mr An­n­ear said the app would in­clude alerts for park, trail and road clo­sures as well as bush­fire alerts and con­di­tion re­ports.
