Australian history buffs take note — colonial-era ghost town Cossack is in need of two new caretakers.

Advertisements for one full-time caretaker and one part-time assistant caretaker in Cossack, both on 12month contracts, were posted on online job boards last Wednesday night.

The abandoned pearling town is a popular City of Karratha tourist site and caretakers, who are the only two official residents, bear sole responsibility for maintaining its historic buildings.

The roles are hard to come by and usually highly sought after.

The advert lists main the caretaker duties as managing Cossack’s buildings and surroundings to a high standard and providing security.

Both roles require workers to live in the town.

Applications are open until Thursday, January 28.
