Car wash for fundraising cause

Pilbara News - - Business - Louise Allingham

A charity car wash and sausage sizzle will be held in Onslow on Saturday, January 30, to raise funds for Variety WA.

The event will be held from 8am to 11am at the Thrifty truck and car rental yard.

Money raised will go towards helping local Onslow resident Bruce Strahan participate in the 2016 Variety WA Diamonds and Pearls Bash — a fundraising road-trip adventure through northern WA.

Mr Strahan will be taking part in The Bash with his wife, Tracey, and friend Natalie Barwick for the fifth year in a row.

They will be driving from Kununurra to Broome in their “000” vehicle in August.

Each car and team partaking in The Bash are dressed and decorated to a novelty theme, creating quite a spectacle on the roads.

Proceeds from this year’s Variety WA Diamonds and Pearls Bash will help Variety to aid and empower sick, special needs and disadvantaged WA children.

Last year, Mr Strahan and his team raised $45,000 for Variety WA and have hopes to beat that this year.
