First SAFE executive officer named
Local animal rescue organisation SAFE has employed its first executive officer, Anne Boxhall.
Ms Boxhall, with founder Sue Hedley, hopes to develop a solid business strategy for SAFE to expand the organisation.
“We’re looking at a whole new structure for SAFE HQ,” she said.
“We want to move on from a management committee to a board of corporate volunteers.”
SAFE will be recruiting people with a specific skills to tackle tasks such as strategy planning, marketing, accounting and complying with government regulations.
Ms Boxhall will be working from her hometown of Hobart but Ms Hedley doesn’t believe it will be a problem. “With technology now, it’s the same as having someone here,” she said.
SAFE’s long-term goal is to encourage a shift in thinking about animal rescue, to move towards the foster care system.
