Crazy fun time at Whim Creek
Residents from Port Hedland and Karratha flocked to Whim Creek Hotel at the weekend for a fun-filled day of crazy pub games.
Visitors of all ages participated in activities and games, including mini cricket, sumo wrestling, the bucking bull and a spaghetti-eating contest.
General manager Bob Bongiorno said the weekend was a “roaring success” and the hotel had many more fun-filled events planned for 2016.
“We’ve got a whole calendar of events planned,” he said.
“We’ve got a number of bands on the green, a beer festival, we’ve got three other weekends of crazy pub games coming up and we’re having a horror movie festival where we’ll change the name of the hotel from Whim Creek to Wolf Creek for one weekend.”
Mr Bongiorno hopes the coming year will put Whim Creek Hotel on the map as one of the Pilbara’s top weekend spots for workers to blow off some steam. “We want to put our name up there as a place where people can have a lot of fun,” he said.
“We know that we’re surrounded by mining areas, which are mainly work environments and we want to provide an out for people on weekends, to get out, have fun and sort of escape for a little bit.”
The next crazy pub game weekend will be from April 23-24.
