Click to bid for a good cause
West Australia Newspapers and Channel 7, supported by The West Australian Regional Newspapers and Redwave regional radio network, are launching an online auction.
The auction will be held to raise money for families affected by the bush fires in the South West recently, following an initiative by Seven West Media WA.
The six-day event will be held at www.Click4FireRelief.com.au starting at 8am on February 10 and will offer products donated by WA businesses which will be available for the public to bid on.
The West Australian Regional Newspapers general manager Ian Jones said some of the company’s offices were in very close proximity to the fires and the amount of community support being offered to the victims had been overwhelming.
“After talking to many local people who have had family or friends directly affected, they are all saying they cannot believe the generosity of people, but the most important thing that they need now is cash,” he said.
Mr Jones said he was confident the regional business community would embrace the fundraiser by offering goods and services to be auctioned.
All readers of The West Australian, The West Australian Regional Newspapers, viewers of Channel 7 and listeners of Red FM can also help by bidding on items in the special no-reserve auction similar to the annual Click2Bid auction.
Readers, viewers and listeners have the chance to support the cause, with the incentive of picking up some bargains and exclusive “money can’t buy” experiences, like a training session with three-time World Champion Danny Green, a once-in-a-lifetime concert with recording guru Kevin Bloody Wilson and a “live like a millionaire” package, thanks to Crown Perth.
The auction will finish on February 15.
