Youth to benefit from grant
The Shire of Ashburton has received a grant under the State Government’s Youth Friendly Communities grants program.
The shire is one of nine regional local governments to receive the grant, which aims to engage young people in the planning and development of their communities.
The grant money will go towards a youth leadership training forum, which will give the community’s young people the opportunity to develop leadership skills, set goals and make action plans.
Shire president Kerry White hopes the program will encourage the involvement of young people in the community.
The Shire of Ashburton is still finalising details of when the first forum will be held.
