Karratha SES has received a light tower thanks to a donation from the Karratha Shotokan Karate Club.

The Karratha Shotokan Karate club is run by Fiona and Ian Ellis who charge a small fee to students to cover operation costs and donate any excess to a selected charity.

After a successful 2015 they decided to donate their money to the Karratha SES of which they have been members for several years.

“The light represents the outstanding contribution every SES member makes to the community as they are all shining examples of what makes the Karratha SES such a great unit to be involved with,” Mrs Ellis said.

Karratha SES manager and operations officer Donna Walker said the light tower will improve night work visibility for the SES team.

“The benefit of this particular type of light is when you look into it you don’t get a glare from it; you’re not blinded by it so it provides more of an ambient natural light,” she said.
