Pioneering partnerships between West Australian resources companies and local communities will be recognised with a prestigious new industry prize.

Minister for Mines and Petroleum Bill Marmion said the Community Partnership Award would highlight positive outcomes of partnerships between companies and communities.

“There are many excellent examples of how, by working alongside communities and engaging with people in a meaningful way, resources companies are leaving constructive and lasting legacies,” he said.

“Nominations could include educational, arts, housing or training ventures, but the scope is almost endless.”

Any community group, person or company operating within the resources industry is eligible to nominate a project for the Community Partnership Award.

Nominations for the award close on April 29, and winners will be announced in September or October.
