Corey Rutgers of the West Pilbara Cricket team has been selected for the country week All Star team.

He was selected after his outstanding performance during the cricket senior country week completion where the West Pilbara team were the unexpected champions.

“Everything just clicked for me. I had a really good week,” Rutgers said.

“I hit a double-century, then a century and then 70-odd in the final as well.”

West Australian Cricket Asso- ciation’s country cricket co-ordinator Tim Lees said the selection to the country week All Stars squad was a significant individual award.

“Many of these players graduate into the WA Country XI and Colts program as a result of All Stars selection,” he said.

Rutgers said he is happy to be rewarded for his achievements.

“It’s a bit of recognition for a lot of hard work you put in on the training field and all the effort you put in, so its nice to be recognised for succeeding every now and then,” he said.
