Cot­teral reels in top prize with golden catch

Com­pet­i­tive fish­ing re­turned to Kar­ratha with the Nickol Bay Sport­fish­ing Club host­ing the top­wa­ter tour­na­ment last Satur- day. An­glers picked up mack­erel and co­ral trout while tar­get­ing big trevally on lures in the catch-and-re­lease com­pe­ti­tion.

Mark Cot­teral won the day with his 112cm golden trevally, tak­ing home the prize pack from West Coast Pop­pers. Dean Lu­cas was just 1cm off in se­cond place with a 111cm goldspot trevally, with Ryan Turner’s 107cm spec­i­men round­ing out the top three.

Some 22 an­glers aboard eight boats took part in the tour­na­ment.
