Local Exmouth boy, Mitchell Ferrari, 10, is now the number one squash player in the under-11s division in the State.

Mitchell, along with fellow Exmouth locals Jamie, 12 and Anita Tsangaris, 14, competed in a number of tournaments in Perth.

In the Karakul Kup tournament Mitchell excelled, coming first in the under-11s division and runnerup in the under-13s.

The trio were then selected to attend the Annual WA Squash Junior Camp in Bridgetown over the Australia Day weekend.

The three-day camp involved extensive training from professional players and coaches, fitness challenges and team building.

Mitchell said the camp was a great experience. “I learnt so much more about the way I play my squash; the coaches were very passionate, had heaps of experience, (and) they taught me to set myself goals,” he said.

“I loved the camp because it was challenging and you were tested on your fitness.”
