Plans to expand Nickol West Park are in their first stages of development.

The park will have toilet, change room, and barbecue facilities as well as a large playing field, formalised carpark- ing and landscaped gardens.

It will extend west from the existing park up to Butcherbird Drive.

City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said an expansion of facilities would benefit the existing park which is “well utilised by Nickol residents.”

“We have upgraded a number of our public open space facilities and playgrounds across the city over the past year with the Bulgarra public open-space project a great example of the fantastic facilities we are providing to our community,” he said.

A detailed design will be drawn up in the coming months which will outline the scope and cost of the project.

Funds for the park will be provided by the 2016/17 Council Budget as well as the developers of Jingarri Estate.
