Fundrais­ing teenager in awards mix

Kar­ratha teenager Nick Hall, 17, has been nom­i­nated for the Com­mu­nity Ser­vice and Vol­un­teer­ing Award cat­e­gory of the WA Young Achiev­ers Awards.

Mr Hall has raised $24,000 for those af­fected by the re­cent South West bush­fires and more than $25,000 for Telethon.

He does so by do­nat­ing in­come from his job at the Coun­try Club and run­ning var­i­ous events around Kar­ratha such as the mar­kets on Bayn­ton West Oval and the Guy Fawkes cel­e­bra­tions in Novem­ber last year.

Mr Hall was in­spired to fundraise for Telethon af­ter a se­ri­ous ill­ness landed him in Princess Mar­garet Hos­pi­tal for sev­eral weeks.

“I met the kids from the Telethon ward and hung out with them,” he said.

Mr Hall also at­tributes his gen­eros­ity to his par­ents who have been in­volved in many fundrais­ers over the years.

He is putting to­gether an­other fundrais­ing event for the South West bush­fires, set to be held at Cat­trall Park on April 3.
