Fundraising teenager in awards mix
Karratha teenager Nick Hall, 17, has been nominated for the Community Service and Volunteering Award category of the WA Young Achievers Awards.
Mr Hall has raised $24,000 for those affected by the recent South West bushfires and more than $25,000 for Telethon.
He does so by donating income from his job at the Country Club and running various events around Karratha such as the markets on Baynton West Oval and the Guy Fawkes celebrations in November last year.
Mr Hall was inspired to fundraise for Telethon after a serious illness landed him in Princess Margaret Hospital for several weeks.
“I met the kids from the Telethon ward and hung out with them,” he said.
Mr Hall also attributes his generosity to his parents who have been involved in many fundraisers over the years.
He is putting together another fundraising event for the South West bushfires, set to be held at Cattrall Park on April 3.
