An annual march raising awareness of skin cancer will be held again in Karratha this Sunday.

The 2016 Melanoma WA Melanoma March aims to raise awareness about prevention and supporting people living with melanoma.

A Melanoma WA spokeswo- man said communities in North West WA faced a higher-than-average exposure to UV radiation, increasing their risk.

The spokeswoman said research suggested people with more than 100 moles on their body were up to seven times more likely to develop the skin disease. Registrations for the march will begin at the Frank Butler Community Centre on Sunday, March 6 at 4.30pm.

Everyone who signs on for the walk can get a free skin screening by Perth dermatologist Claire Tait, who is flying up for the event.
