Shade sails pro­ject

Per­ma­nent shade struc­tures will soon be erected over the Bul­garra and Say­lor Park play­ground spa­ces.

The City of Kar­ratha is look­ing for ten­ders to build the struc­tures, which should be com­pleted in the com­ing months.

Rio Tinto will pro­vide the funds for the shades for the tod­dler sec­tion of Say­lor Park and the City of Kar­ratha al­lo­cated $200,000 in the 2015-16 fi­nan­cial year to­wards those in Bul­garra play­ground.

Over the past five years, the City has in­vested in erect­ing shade struc­tures over many parks and play spa­ces to en­cour­age an ac­tive life­style, sup­port the well­be­ing of the com­mu­nity and max­imise the amenity of out­door recre­ation ar­eas.

City of Kar­ratha Mayor Peter Long said the City will con­tinue to pro­vide shade for play spa­ces in all the towns in its ju­ris­dic­tion.

“The com­mu­nity has been very pos­i­tive about our shade pro­gram and we are com­mit­ted to con­tin­u­ing to pro­vide shaded play spa­ces in all our towns,” he said.
