Shade sails project
Permanent shade structures will soon be erected over the Bulgarra and Saylor Park playground spaces.
The City of Karratha is looking for tenders to build the structures, which should be completed in the coming months.
Rio Tinto will provide the funds for the shades for the toddler section of Saylor Park and the City of Karratha allocated $200,000 in the 2015-16 financial year towards those in Bulgarra playground.
Over the past five years, the City has invested in erecting shade structures over many parks and play spaces to encourage an active lifestyle, support the wellbeing of the community and maximise the amenity of outdoor recreation areas.
City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said the City will continue to provide shade for play spaces in all the towns in its jurisdiction.
“The community has been very positive about our shade program and we are committed to continuing to provide shaded play spaces in all our towns,” he said.
