Swash­buck­ling Pi­rates book grand fi­nal berth

The last-round games for the 2015-16 Kar­ratha Wa­ter Polo As­so­ci­a­tion was played on Thurs­day night.

In the women’s games Barracudas de­feated Krack­ens 10-4, with five goals to Kate Kala­jzich and two to Su­san Grylls, while for Krack­ens Laura Hill scored three goals.

Pi­rates had a con­vinc­ing 19-5 win over Sharks, with Belinda Brooks scor­ing eight goals.

In the men’s games, Krack­ens were pressed all the way by Barracudas, with a nar­row 8-7 win. Krack­ens’ By­ron New­bold top scored with five goals.

In the last round be­fore fi­nals, Krack­ens were un­able back up with a se­cond game and went down 18-3 to lad­der lead­ers Pi­rates. Grand fi­nals will be played on March 10.

Pi­rates men fin­ished the sea­son on top of the lad­der and will go straight through to the grand fi­nal while in the women’s, Barracudas played Sharks and Pi­rates played Krack­ens last night, with the win­ner of each game go­ing through to the grand fi­nal.
