Swashbuckling Pirates book grand final berth
The last-round games for the 2015-16 Karratha Water Polo Association was played on Thursday night.
In the women’s games Barracudas defeated Krackens 10-4, with five goals to Kate Kalajzich and two to Susan Grylls, while for Krackens Laura Hill scored three goals.
Pirates had a convincing 19-5 win over Sharks, with Belinda Brooks scoring eight goals.
In the men’s games, Krackens were pressed all the way by Barracudas, with a narrow 8-7 win. Krackens’ Byron Newbold top scored with five goals.
In the last round before finals, Krackens were unable back up with a second game and went down 18-3 to ladder leaders Pirates. Grand finals will be played on March 10.
Pirates men finished the season on top of the ladder and will go straight through to the grand final while in the women’s, Barracudas played Sharks and Pirates played Krackens last night, with the winner of each game going through to the grand final.
