Google’s view of the streets outdated

Pilbara News - - News - ■ Louise Allingham

Karratha looks somewhat outdated on Google Street View, as images have not been updated since March, 2008.

Google Street View is a mapping service that takes panoramic images of streets around the world.

The most recent images of Karratha show the Dampier Highway in its earliest stages of construction and the sites where Baynton West and the Pelago apartment buildings now stand is a plain of red dirt and shrubs.

One resident shared their thoughts on Facebook, saying the City of Karratha should get on Google’s case.

Another said they had seen the Google Street View car some time in the past couple of years, but this claim is unconfirmed.

A Google spokesman said there were no exact details to share about schedules or timelines as to whether the car would be coming through soon.
