Coroner reconvenes death inquest
The WA coroner reconvened an inquest into the death of 22-year-old Aboriginal woman Ms Dhu in South Hedland’s lock-up this week.
Ms Dhu died during her third visit in as many days to Hedland Health Campus from staphylococcal septicaemia and pneumonia. She was in lock-up because of unpaid fines.
The final day of the first half of the inquest into her death in August 2014 ended on December 4, with senior police admitting officers may have played a role in her death, but that the Hedland Health Campus staff were equally culpable.
