Grants give neigh­bour­hood groups a wel­come boost

Ap­pli­ca­tions are now open for Aus­tralia Post’s 2016 Our Neigh­bour­hood Com­mu­nity Grants Pro­gram.

The pro­gram will pro­vide one­off cash pay­ments of up to $10,000 per pro­ject to com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions, groups or char­i­ties.

Aus­tralia Post gen­eral man­ager com­mu­nity re­la­tions An­drea Pear­man said the aim of the pro­gram is to sup­port and recog­nise the im­por­tant roles th­ese groups and char­i­ties play in com­mu­ni­ties across the coun­try. “We live in a world that’s more con­nected than ever, but it’s still the things hap­pen­ing in our streets, in our neigh­bour­hoods and in our com­mu­ni­ties that of­ten have the big­gest im­pact,” she said.

This year, grants will be awarded to groups and projects that fo­cus on four main ar­eas — dig­i­tal ca­pa­bil­ity, em­ploy­ment path­ways, com­mu­nity in­clu­sion and (nat­u­ral) disas­ter readi­ness.
