Grants give neighbourhood groups a welcome boost
Applications are now open for Australia Post’s 2016 Our Neighbourhood Community Grants Program.
The program will provide oneoff cash payments of up to $10,000 per project to community organisations, groups or charities.
Australia Post general manager community relations Andrea Pearman said the aim of the program is to support and recognise the important roles these groups and charities play in communities across the country. “We live in a world that’s more connected than ever, but it’s still the things happening in our streets, in our neighbourhoods and in our communities that often have the biggest impact,” she said.
This year, grants will be awarded to groups and projects that focus on four main areas — digital capability, employment pathways, community inclusion and (natural) disaster readiness.
To apply, head to ourneighbourhood.com.au. Applications close on Friday, April 1.
Cornerstone Community used last year’s grant to buy equipment for their kitchen.
