Ses­sion on build­ing code changes

The Build­ing Com­mis­sion will take its Build­ing Code of Aus­tralia in­for­ma­tion ses­sions on the road in April.

The com­mis­sion will travel to nine lo­ca­tions around the State, stop­ping in Kar­ratha on April 12.

The Pil­bara build­ing in­dus­try will be briefed on changes to the BCA that will come into ef­fect on May 1, as well as other build­ing- re­lated mat­ters. Build­ing Com­mis­sioner Peter Gow said the body was com­mit­ted to en­sur­ing build­ing in­dus­try stake­hold­ers in re­gional WA had ac­cess to the same in­for­ma­tion as their metropoli­tan coun­ter­parts.

“Our re­gional road­shows are an ef­fec­tive way of achiev­ing this and we en­cour­age mem­bers of the Pil­bara build­ing in­dus­try to take this op­por­tu­nity to meet with us face-to-face and hear about im­por­tant changes af­fect- ing them and their in­dus­try,” he said.

There will be a morn­ing ses­sion for builders, build­ing sur­vey­ors, de­sign­ers and lo­cal govern­ment per­mit au­thor­i­ties, which will fo­cus on build­ing code changes and how the tech­ni­cal stan­dards can be ap­plied. A reg­is­tra­tion fee will ap­ply. There will also be a free af­ter­noon ses­sion, with any­one work­ing in the build­ing in­dus­try wel­come to at­tend.
