Rio Tinto chief executive announces retirement
Rio Tinto chief executive Sam Walsh has announced his retirement from the helm of the world’s second-biggest mining company. The announcement was made by Rio at its head office in London last week.
Rio said Mr Walsh would hand the reins to the company’s 44-year-old copper and coal boss Jean-Sebastien Jacques on July 2.
“I have been seriously fortunate to lead one of the world’s best companies,” he said.
