Woman threatened with spear gun
■ A Wickham man has been arrested after allegedly threatening a woman with a spear gun.
The 38-year-old man is alleged to have had a disagreement with the woman while she was visiting a nearby Wickham property on Sunday, March 13.
It is alleged the man retrieved a spear gun from his property several houses away and threatened her with it as she went to leave.
The victim is understood to have driven off and called Roebourne police, who arrested the man the next day.
Roebourne police officer-incharge Senior Sergeant Gemma Hennigan said spear guns, which consisted of a trigger-operated spear held along a barrel, were “pretty dangerous”.
“This is the first spear gun incident we’ve had for a little while, but people can be quite innovative when it comes to weapons,” she said.
“Spear guns can do a lot of damage. They’re definitely not something you want to be attacked with.”
The man has been charged with possession of a controlled weapon and being armed in public and is due to appear in Roebourne Magistrate’s Court on April 12.
