Slayers off to a tough start

Pilbara News - - Sport - Rob Skinner

■ The Samson Slayers have entered the competition and found it tough going as they played last year’s dual premiership team, Warriors.

It was not a kind induction as Warriors set the bar high for the new team with a 13-2 welcome. At least the Slayers can regroup knowing they will not have to play top-of-the-table Warriors again for a while.

All the other matches were close, with Recaholics and Taverners both edging 8-7 wins over Punishers and Animals respectively.

In the other match, it was Wreckers — the only other undefeated team after two rounds — who were too good for Mongrels 9-6, who played their first match of the season.

This week, Warriors and Wreckers play and after three weeks there will be only one undefeated team.
