Red Dog race adds Super Teams to the mix

Registrations for the Red Dog Relay officially opened at the Karratha Leisureplex last Thursday.

A new program of events and changes to the original relay were also presented at the event’s launch.

This year the relay will have an extended course, the addition of a Super Team category, discounts for those who register early, and a partnership with The Quarter.

Event director Peter Kay said changes had been put in place to streamline the relay.

“We’ve had to reconfigure a few things, but some of the relay legs are still the same,” he said.

“We’re just trying to make it sequential where we can.”

As in previous years, teams of four to six will share the run, paddle, drive, walk and swim legs of the relay across Karratha, Dampier and Millstream Chichester National Park.

Groups will now have the option to register as a Super Team, meaning each team member will complete one section of the relay solo.
