Lost living link to Cheedys

Pilbara News - - Opinion -

Recently, an old blackfeller, Mr Cheedy, passed on. He was over 100 years old. This hut, I believe, was built by him and his mates many years ago.

It is now on Hooley Station 150km north-north-east of Tom Price between Mulga Downs and Yandeyarra.

There is a windmill called Cheedys; in its original state it would have been an absolute work of art.

Just north of Cheedys is a watershed area where the creeks flow into Hooley Creek, Powdar Creek and the Chichester and Mungaroona ranges. The Mungaroona range nature reserve is an incredible area. No one goes there it is so isolated. Ken Saligari Exmouth
