Anglers told to check fish licences
Anglers are being reminded to check they have the correct licenses before going on a fishing trip.
Licences are required in WA for the use of a powered boat to fish or to transport catches or fishing gear to or from a land-based fishing location, and for abalone, marron, rock lobster and set, haul and throw net fishing.
Department of Fisheries northern community education officer Jessamy Ham said it paid to do your research as fishing licenses varied from State to State.
He said licences needed to be carried at all times while fishing.
Revenue from fishing licences is spent on artificial reefs, fish-at-tracting devices and research.
